EPCOR Drainage Community Task Force

The Task Force met for the final time on Dec. 12, as all the planned work in our community has been completed. We wish to thank the staff from City of Edmonton, EPCOR, the team facilitator, Councillor Knack and all the community volunteers who put in many hours over the last three years in meetings, consultations, collecting and reporting community concerns and in review of communications.

Adult Sports Leagues

Beginning in January 2019, the Intramural Sports program at the University of Alberta is launching new Foote Field 5's Leagues - Football, Soccer, Ultimate Frisbee and Touch Rugby - in the Dome at Foote Field at the University of Alberta's South Campus. These leagues are open to everyone! As a part of the UofA's Campus & Community Recreation department, the Intramural Sports program is focused on providing recreation programming for folks on campus and throughout the Edmonton community. More information on getting involved is available at I'm not a University of Alberta student. How can I play?

NEW BENCHMARK FOR AMOUNT PAID FOR WEST JASPER PLACE TEAR DOWN

Last winter a private sale for a house on a corner 50 X 150 foot residential lot in West Jasper Place sold for $322,500. The house is in very good condition but was purchased by a developer to tear down for infill. Reminder: Asking $300,000 for a tear down on a 50 X 150 foot lot is fair. A corner lot should command a higher price. Demand has started to increase with the approved West LRT.

DO YOU HAVE AN ILLEGAL SUITE?

Homeowners with an existing unpermitted suite now have the ability to apply for a permit and become regulated. As an incentive, the city will waive application penalty fees if you voluntarily apply for a permit before September 1, 2019. It is important to note that homeowners with existing suites built before 2007 will benefit from decreased retrofit costs if they obtain permits prior to provincial fire and safety code regulation changes anticipated later this year. Grant funding is also available for upgrading an existing suite to a maximum of $20,000. More information is available on the city’s website: edmonton.ca. Pull up the city’s site and type in secondary suites in the search bar.
