Upcoming Meeting to Lobby Council to Oppose 149th Street Underpass
Dear Community Representatives:
We are requesting your support to lobby city council to oppose 149th Street Underpass. Please review the attached letter which details the implications of Transportation's proposal.
Also, we would like to extend an invitation to our upcoming meeting on Tuesday, February 13th, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., at our community hall (9620 - 152 Street). Two councillors have confirmed their attendance. Property owners, businesses, residents from seniors apartments, other community representatives, and the media have been invited. Transportation was invited but they have not responded.
I have also included a link to the display boards Transportation used in their last West Valley Line LRT presentation. As well, I included a link to my Letter to the Editor from January 31 which also includes an illustration of the stores that would remain if properties were expropriated for the underpass.

Winter Green Shack Program for Children
The winter Green Shack program of games, crats, sports and outdoor cooking is starting up again in our park, on January 6. The program is targeted for children aged 6-12. The program is held Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday afternoons. See poster for more details.
Missing Middle Housing
City council will be advancing a new initiative for middle density infill which will focus mainly around transit corridors, transit oriented development areas, pre-war, and RF3 neighbourhoods. This infill comprises of apartments under 6 storeys, row housing, and courtyard housing.
West Jasper Place is unique in that the community does not have a 'missing middle'. We have over 65% of dwellings as apartment units which is the direct opposite of most mature neighbourhoods. In order to encourage a diversity of housing, the Jasper Place ARP does not support new apartments in new areas of our community. New apartments are only permitted in our RA7 zones on 149th Street, 156th Street and between 100th Avenue and Stony Plain Road.
100 Ave Trail Litter
City of Edmonton Waste Services has placed litter receptacles at each block on the multi-use trail along 100 Ave between 150 St. and 163 St. They should be emptying the containers on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Help us monitor the maintenance and litter problems by letting the City know, at 311, whenever you see overflowing litter receptacles, or other instances of accumulating litter along the path.
