Future Closure of Sherwood School
In spring 2017, Edmonton Public School Board presented concepts, based on feedback we heard from all public meetings, responses to online surveys and from the working committee. The community showed a preference for Concept 2:
- A new K-3 school on the Afton School site
- A Grade 4-9 school on the Westlawn School site
The government announced funding for this project in March 2018. This will consolidate all students from Afton, Glendale, Sherwood and Westlawn schools into the two new schools when they open.
A public meeting was held at Westlawn School on May 28, 2018 to discuss the recommendation to close Afton, Glendale, Sherwood and Westlawn schools. See https://www.epsb.ca/schools/spaceforstudents/westlawn/.

Free Outdoor Pool
Fred Broadstock pool is near our community, at 15720 105 Avenue. It is open until the September long weekend (weather permitting) and offer free access for the entire 2018 season.
Please note: Closures are determined by temperature (below 18C), extreme weather (stormy, heavy rain, lightning / thunder), and bookings. Check https://www.edmonton.ca/activities_parks_recreation/fred-broadstock-outdoor-pool.aspx for pool schedule and status.
Evolving Infill Update
At the July 3rd Urban Planning Committee meeting administration will present to council the final drafts of the Infill Roadmap 2018. See: edmonton.ca.
The city will create for developers a map displaying the areas of the city that can have medium and high density infill. Communities with recently approved Area Redevelopment Plans (ARP’s) such as: McKernan, Belgravia, Britannia/Youngstown, Glenwood, Canora and West Jasper Place may have their TOD areas up zoned for medium density multi-family dwellings. Also, developers will have their permits expedited to encourage redevelopment.
Sherwood Pop Up Play
Join in games, sports, crafts, music, drama and special events 2 days a week at each location.
Ages 6 to 12 welcomed; ages 5 and under must be supervised by a guardian.
Runs Mondays and Wednesdays
in July and August
from 2:30 PM. to 6:00 p.m.
at 93 Ave. and 155 Street.
Summer Greenshack
Games, sports, crafts, music, drama and special events for kids aged 6 to 12. Ages 5 and under must be supervised by a guardian.
Runs Monday through Friday,
July 3rd to Aug 23th
from 2:30 PM. to 6:00 p.m.
at Arthur Elliot Park, 9620-152 Street.
