VOLUNTEERS ARE REQUIRED FOR 2019 COMMUNITY CASINO

The community league’s only fundraiser which has not been held since 2015 will take place during the 3rd quarter of 2019 at the West Edmonton Palace Casino. We will be informed of the exact dates next year. The number of people to volunteer will determine the length and number of shifts required. Volunteers will receive vouchers for the hours worked. Please phone Irene @ 780-489-2994 for details.

It is critical that the community league has a casino. The funds raised help the league pay for the high utility costs, maintenance of the hall, skating rink, basketball and tennis courts. Without a community league, residents would have no amenities other than open park space. It is the league that fundraises to build a playground, skating rink, basketball and tennis courts, etc. When our playground is deemed too old in the next 10 years by the city, it will be up to the community league to fundraise to build a new playground. We have been told that it now takes up to 1 million dollars to build a decent playground.

Developers Will be Door Knocking

We have been told that the federal government will advance funding for our West Valleyline LRT next spring. Developers will be anxious to purchase properties at a reduced rate now in West Jasper Place and Sherwood. Typically, land values increase once the LRT is operating. Our properties are centrally located; close to transit and community stores. Many have beautiful elm treed boulevards. Our multi-use trail and the short walking distance to the MacKinnon Ravine attracts active young families. Do not undersell your property! Teardown houses on lots approximately 50' x 149' have sold for $300,000. If you require further information, please phone Irene @ 780-489-2994.
