Proposed 4 Storey, 36 Unit Apartment

Boris Belostotsky is proposing to rezone, across from the school, the last 3 lots on 153 Street abutting 95 Avenue (9504-153 Street) to a DC2 for a 4 storey, 36 unit Apartment with ground floor commercial. This rezoning will not comply with our newly approved Jasper Place ARP, and will require an amendment to our ARP. Originally in 2016, Mr. Belostotsky rezoned this property to a DC2 (Bylaw 17619) for 5 units of row houses facing 153 Street and another 5 units of row houses with ground floor commercial facing 95th Avenue, which did comply with our ARP. If this rezoning is approved by council, it will set a precedence and will open the door to other apartments built within our neighbourhood! Mr. Belostotsky owns several other properties in West Jasper Place as well as Sherwood.

Note: A meeting will be organized in January for interested residents to prepare for city council’s public hearing, which could take place in spring, 2019. If you are interested in notification, please email Irene at 2puddycats@gmail.com

NEW SUPPORTIVE HOUSING

Jasper Place Health and Wellness has received government funding to build another housing project in this area. They currently own and operate a 30 unit homeless housing project called Canora Place at 10141-153 Street. They intend to construct 3 buildings with 10 to 12 units in each in Glenwood at 16022, 16026, and 16030-100th Avenue (beside the Better Business Bureau) for hard to house supportive housing. These sites will still have to be rezoned and approved by council. For further information, please contact Murray Soroka at 780-908-6309 or email: murrays@jpwc.ca
