With spring fast approaching, we are so excited for the vibrant year ahead in our community! From the return of favorite traditions to brand-new social events, there is plenty to look forward to as the weather warms up.
Community Update
As we transition between seasons, please note that the ice rink has mostly melted and is now officially closed for the rest of the winter season. However, warmer weather means we are looking forward to reopening the larger dog park soon!
Mark your calendars for these upcoming highlights:
- Annual Spring Clean Up: Join us on May 4th to help keep our neighborhood beautiful.
- Community Dinners & Socials: Monthly community dinners are back! We are also launching new rotating monthly events, including Saturday night parties at the hall.
- Annual General Meeting (AGM): Please join us on April 24th. Dinner will be served at 6:00 PM. You can sign up here to attend.
LEGO Freestyle Build Night

Join us next Saturday, March 15th, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM for a night of creativity and connection! Partnering with Lets P.O.P Yeg, we are hosting a freestyle LEGO build at the hall.
This event is open to all ages and skill levels, with all bricks provided. Enjoy great music and socializing while you build. Entry is free, though we gratefully encourage you to bring a donation for the food bank if you are able.
Winter Festival 2025

Bundle up and join us for our annual Winter Festival at the hall on February 23rd from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM! This event is free for everyone and packed with seasonal fun, including:
- Horse and buggy rides and the return of the Sugar Shack.
- Skating (skates provided) and fire pits to keep you toasty.
- Kids' activities like snow painting, broomball, and "Angry Birds."
- Snacks and hot chocolate to keep your energy up.
Don't forget to visit the welcome table to enter our door prize draw! We have a $100 gift card grand prize and three $20 gift cards available for West Jasper or Sherwood residents. We are also thrilled to feature a special live performance by Edmonton’s own Sticks and Stone Percussion.
Ways To Get Involved
Our community thrives because of neighbors like you. We are always looking for volunteers for both short-term projects and long-term roles. If you’d like to help, please reach out to raeleigh@westjaspersherwood.ca.
Current Volunteer Opportunities:
- Parents & Kids Club Hosts: We need three hosts to help with setup, sign-in, and supporting facilitators from the Jasper Place Family Resource Center. Interested? Email matthew@westjaspersherwood.ca.
- Communications Team: Are you passionate about digital media? We need 1-2 volunteers to help with a website refresh, social media planning, and newsletter coordination.
- Block Connectors: Help us grow our neighborhood network by connecting with people on your street and sharing the benefits of community membership.
- Events Team: From the Summer Carnival to Community League Day, these events can't happen without a team. Join us for planning or day-of support!
- Dog Park Team: We are looking for 3-4 people to assist with occasional maintenance and improvements to our local dog park.
