Spring is in the air, and we have plenty of updates to share with our West Jasper Sherwood neighbors. From community cleanup efforts to recreational opportunities, here is what is happening in our league.
Community Clean Up & Big Bin Event
Join us this Saturday, May 7, for a day dedicated to tidying up our beautiful neighborhood! We will be stationed at the Community League Hall (9620 152 St) with two ways for you to get involved:
Community Clean Up (1:00 PM – 4:00 PM) Help us refresh our local parks, pathways, and playgrounds. We will provide bags, pick-up sticks, and supplies, but feel free to bring your own gloves.
Big Bin Event (10:00 AM – 5:00 PM) This is your chance to dispose of large household items at no charge! We are also accepting used bike donations for The Edmonton Bike Swap. Please note this service is for community residents only.
Important Bin Guidelines: We cannot accept commercial waste, hazardous materials, tires, paint cans, combustibles (gas/propane), or appliances containing Freon. These items, along with electronics and scrap metal, should be taken to a City of Edmonton EcoStation.
If our bins reach capacity early, you can head to the city-wide Big Bin Event at Callingwood (17740 - 69 Ave) on May 7 or 8. Please refer to the map below for traffic flow and bin placement:

Note: Our team will be on-site to direct traffic, but you must be able to unload and dispose of your items yourself. Both events will run rain or shine, though the Clean Up may be postponed in the event of severe weather.

Seeking Painting Contractors
The League is looking for a qualified contractor to prep and paint the skating rink boards (inside and outside) at our rink located just north of the hall (9620 - 152 St). We require high-quality, long-lasting outdoor paint and a minimum two-year warranty on the work.
For questions or to submit a quote, please text Rick Nenn at 780.919.6069.
Outdoor Rinks: Closed for the Season
Our outdoor rinks are now officially closed. We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy the ice this winter, and a special shout-out to the volunteers who worked tirelessly to build and maintain the rinks for us all to enjoy!
