Stay informed and connected with the latest updates from our community league. While some things have changed, there are still plenty of ways to stay active and involved this season.
Active Families with Kids On Track
Traditionally, Kids On Track has offered day camps for children throughout the summer. While we have had to suspend the day camp program this year, we are thrilled to announce that our Active Families program is expanding! This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to get active and creative alongside their children, fostering stronger family bonds through shared experiences.
We are offering four activity slots per week (Monday through Thursday) as well as two Saturdays every month. From container gardening and nature games to bike days, craft sessions, and creative outdoor play, there is truly something for everyone. We provide all necessary equipment and supplies, and all activities will strictly follow Alberta provincial guidelines, including social distancing.
Participation is only $5 per activity, and we have many free spots available. We are committed to working with whatever a family can afford to ensure everyone can join in the fun!

Supporting Local Businesses
A new Edmonton Business Directory has been established to help residents find local businesses that remain operational during these changing times. Many shops and services are meeting customer needs through specialized pickup and delivery options. This initiative aims to keep our community organizations and businesses afloat while fostering a spirit of local support. You can find more information and browse the directory at https://edmonton.thingsthatareopen.com/.
Community Hall and Ice Rink Closures
Please be advised that the Community Hall is closed until further notice for all public use. This follows the provincial closure order prohibiting attendance at public recreation and community centres to ensure public safety. You can find the latest updates on provincial regulations at https://www.alberta.ca/coronavirus-info-for-albertans.aspx.
Additionally, our community league ice rink is now closed for the season. We look forward to seeing everyone back on the ice when the weather turns cold again!
Jasper Gates Redevelopment Update
On February 4, 2020, City Council approved RioCan’s DC2 rezoning, which permits the construction of mixed-use buildings featuring four towers ranging from 25 to 30 storeys. While the Jasper Place ARP was not amended, several policy concerns remain.
It has come to light that Safeway owns half of the Jasper Gates site and currently has no intention of selling to RioCan or redeveloping their portion. This creates a significant concern regarding the "hodge-podge" nature of the potential redevelopment. Furthermore, the required community amenity green space was planned for the Safeway-owned property; if that land is not sold, the green space may never be built. There are ongoing discussions regarding the validity of this rezoning given these complications.
