Stay informed and active this season with the latest updates from West Jasper Place and Sherwood. From skating events to important community planning notices, here is what is happening in our neighborhood.
Learn to Skate Wrap Up Event
Celebrate the end of the skating season with a special 'Wrap Up' event at Rogers Place! Join us on March 17 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM for an afternoon of fun on the ice. Admission is free and there are activities for everyone to enjoy.
Please enter through the 104 Ave Scotiabank Premium Entrance. Note that there is a maximum capacity of 150 people, so entry is first-come, first-served. Helmets are mandatory, so please bring yours along with your skates. Limited equipment will be available if needed. Click here to view the event poster.
Community Crime Update
We want to keep our residents informed about recent activity in the area. In West Jasper Place, the most common crimes south of 100 Ave continue to be theft from vehicles and break-ins to houses and garages. North of 100 Ave, assaults and robberies are the most frequent reports. Over the last 60 days, there were six reported thefts from vehicles and five break and enters. In Sherwood, three assaults were reported during the same period.

Proposed 4-Storey Apartment Development
A new rezoning proposal has been submitted for the three lots on 153 Street abutting 95 Avenue (9504-153 Street), across from the school. The developer, Boris Belostotsky, is proposing a 4-storey, 36-unit apartment building with ground-floor commercial space.
This proposal does not comply with our newly approved Jasper Place Area Redevelopment Plan (ARP) and would require a specific amendment to the plan. This is a significant change from the 2016 approval, which consisted of 10 row houses that did fit our community guidelines. The Community League is concerned that if approved, this could set a precedent for similar apartment developments throughout West Jasper Place and Sherwood.
Get Involved: A meeting will be organized in January to help residents prepare for the City Council public hearing. If you would like to receive notifications about this meeting, please email Irene at 2puddycats@gmail.com.
